We have a brand new mat at the Alamo school! It is always a fun process when we pull the old mat back and look underneath. We have been at the Alamo location since 1985, and this was our 7th mat that we’ve put into the school. Each time, we save a piece of the mat, date it and it remains under the new mat. There is so much blood, sweat and tears that go into each mat, it’s important to us to save a piece for historical and sentimental purposes. We have all of the pieces dating back to 1985! We also take time to let our instructors and black belts write on the floor. It’s an experience to be able to look back over the past 28 years to see what goals people have set for themselves and to take time to think about what the future will bring.
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone that came out to help us this weekend. We had a huge group on Saturday and then our Master Mat Replacers continued on Sunday and finished the job. Mr. McKay, Mr. McElroy, Mr. Cusack, Mr. Zipkin, Mr. Stallings and Mr. Kinsey, spent their whole weekend making sure that the mat was laid out, stretched and tacked down properly so all of us could get back to our normal training Monday morning. We really appreciate all the work you guys put in for us!
Here are just a few pictures from the eventful weekend! Enjoy the new mat and make sure to keep it clean!!!!
