Congraulations Scholarship Winners!

Congratulations to our 2013 Grandmaster Lee and Master Buckley Scholarship recipients, Mr. Bailey Ferguson and Mr. Warren Goodson!

Thank you to Mr. Norstrom for this fantastic article. I know that every single black belt and anyone that has competed on the world stage can appreciate where this athlete is coming from. If it weren't for our coaches and mentors, there is no way that we could reach any meaningful level of success in our fields!

Here is Mr Norstrom's email to us with the article. He wrote an explanation of the significance of her gesture towards her coach:

“When I read this article I started to think about the last world championship and how much Master Buckley and Mrs Newman meant to all the athletes competing over there.
Lisa Norden is a Swedish Triathlon athlete and was very close to winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London. She lost by a fraction of a second and ended up with the silver medal. In Sweden we have a prize called “Bragdguldet” (been handed out since 1925) translates to the gold medal for astonishing performance and is by the athletes ranked very high though the Swedish people cast their votes and that decides who gets it. So you don't have the be the gold medal winner to get it but if you do an incredible performance and such in this case are the runner up, you still can get it.
Today she gave the award away to her coach. This is big news in Sweden today, and it's never happened before .

There is a great message in this video. “When a skiing accident left Greg Mallory paralyzed from the waist down, he turned to kayaking to help him escape his wheelchair. Now he’s an accomplished Class V whitewater paddler who finds strength, challenge and meaning on the river.” What are you “stoked” about?
